We tie a string around our fingers to remind us of certain things.  Cute idea, right?

Well, what about a new take on friendship bracelets?  Tie a bow on a bracelet with an angel wing attached to "remind" the friend you give it to that you are thinking about her and praying for her.  Every time she looks at her wrist she will know that she is in your heart.

A kind of Bohemian, fashionable look with such a sweet message!

I didn't skip the country, I have had some things to tend to, but I am glad to be posting again!

I am a single mom and not the best multi-tasker.  I am a very strong, independent person, but there are times we have to take help from others whether we want to or not.  I have three sweet kids depending on me so it is always frustrating when I can't do everything I want and need to do.

Women are expected to do so much whether we are married or not.  Today, it is a necessity for both parents to work and the to do list most of the time is way longer than the hours in the day.  BUT, I believe women have a strength and almost supernatural power when it comes to being strong and getting things done.

I said in my last post I was working on something.  I stumbled on an amazing website that is empowering and encouraging for young girls.  It is so important for girls to know they can do anything they put their minds to.  As Virginia Slims (I don't smoke, but that was my grandmother's brand) says, "We've come a long way, baby" but it is still a fight for some things and a struggle to keep the progress we have made.

Encouraging girls to grow up strong and independent is more important now than ever before.  Sure both parents can work all day and come home to take care of the children and chores together, but just let someone come in and a see a messy house or no dinner in the oven and everyone automatically looks at the woman.  There is always a lot of pressure to keep up.  I was a stay at home mom for years and I am so thankful that I was able to do that, but now I am divorced and the backup degree I had is not sufficient for a sole income.  I am teaching my daughter that she needs to know how to take care of herself because you never know how things will turn out.  I don't see it as being negative but being prepared.

There is nothing prettier than a confident girl.  Period.  We have to teach young girls to appreciate and take pride in the talents and skills God gave them.  They are who they are for a reason and should be proud of their individuality.  There are so many organizations that do just that.  The website I found is a great way to empower young girls and give back at the same time.

I am so excited that I am going to be making necklaces with the designs from this website.  They offer many kinds of merchandise for girls to express themselves.  I have a few samples of what I have done.  I am still working on it and will have it on my Etsy shop soon.  I am working on a couple more details, but I am beyond excited to make these pieces.

I can't post without adding a song!  I have had a few things going on.  For starters, my body is ticked with me for some reason and not cooperating.  Our town also just lost an amazing young man.  He was a good friend of my kids' and my family has known his for generations.  He was only 16 but left an impression and influence among other teens that is indescribable.  He had an amazing maturity and love for God that is rare for that age.  He led many to God in life and countless after.  We never know why things like this happen.  He collapsed at basketball conditioning.  We just have to have faith in God and know that there is a reason we might not are supposed to understand right now.  He had just recently decided to be an organ donor and his generosity helped at least 15 people.  One thing I do know for sure is life is precious and everyday is a gift.  We should treat each other and ourselves with respect and kindness.

I chose this song because everyday is a new day.  We can't change our past, but our future is "unwritten" and we can make of it what we choose.
