You Don't Know You're Beautiful

There is a lot of difference between the words confidence and conceited.  The first three letters is the only thing they have in common in my opinion.  You can be confident and be self assured without throwing yourself about like you are better than others.  That is what conceited means to me.  You have an air about you like you think you are better than those around you.  I don't know many people who I would call conceited who are very well liked or respected.

You can have all the confidence in the world and not be the least bit conceited.  You are self assured in what you are doing, but don't feel better than others and most of the time, these individuals are not only popular, but also well respected.

My daughter is 18, and I have told her all of her life that you can be the most beautiful girl in the room, but if you are conceited and obnoxious, no one will see your beauty.  Confidence demands attention and can make anyone more attractive instantly.  When I think about the people I most enjoy being around, they are confident people who know who they are.  I am so glad I have taught her that, and better yet, that she has always listened.  She is an absolutely beautiful girl and amazes me with her big, serving heart. She is always doing some kind of charity event.  She is confident in helping others and encouraging others to do so, but isn't close to aware of how pretty she is which makes her even prettier in my eyes!

I am going to be doing something very soon with jewelry to empower young girls.  I am working with a design from a wonderful website that does just that.  I think it is so important for young girls to know they can do anything they put their minds to no matter what society tells them.  I will have these pieces up soon and I am really, really excited about it.  There is so much pressure today for young girls and they need positive messages everywhere they turn.  We are going to rock the rules in a fun, trendy, fashionable way!
(I am waiting on one thing, but hope to have these up by the end of the weekend.)

I heard this song this morning on the way back from dropping my son off at Driver's (big gulp!) Ed.  I still haven't gotten used to my daughter being out by herself and now I will have two on the road to worry about!  I can see why girls love this band because the boys are cute, but I love this message!

I made this keychain with a picture of the group!
